A Head, 2017

Wood: elm
55 x 21 x 20 cm
Unique
The sculpture references to the pre-historic times and primitive culture. In a natural manner, a human head transforms into a voluminous shape that barely holds to anthropomorphic features. In 2015 during the reconstruction of the Botanical Garden of Peter the Great (St. Petersburg), the extraction of old trees was performed. This sculpture is cast from a 150-year-old giant elm tree under the branchs of which Alexander II, Alexander III and the last emperor of the Russia - Nicholas II - used to stroll along the garden paths
